The Zone of Death?

Imagine our surprise when we learned that our favorite area to run the dogs runs right next to the (cue creepy music) Yellowstone Zone of Death! Whoa.

The Zone of Death is the name given to the 50 sq mi (129.50 km2) Idaho section of Yellowstone National Park in which, as a result of a purported loophole in the Constitution of the United States, a criminal could theoretically get away with any crime, up to and including murder.

Here’s a precise map just in case you want to take the mother in law backpacking this spring:

I don’t think there are any roads in and out of that area but we might be willing to make a deal on dog sled team rental if the price is right.

Our dogs are super smart so we haven’t told them about this purported loophole in the law, just in case they get crazy ideas. Which they are known to do at least twice a week.

Of course to eliminate the threat of being murdered by them we always stop on the way back and get them a roast beef sandwich from Arby’s when we take them out sledding, just in case. I mean, why risk it with these potential killers…
